Lumberjacks Swept in Season Opener

The DCB Lumberjack Volleyball team dropped their season and home opener Wednesday night to Lake Region State College 3-0.

Set one started out back and forth. With the Royals leading 5-4 LRSC went on a 6-0 run making the score 11-4 and forcing a DCB timeout. Out of the timeout the Royals tacked on another point to make the score 12-5. The Jacks would try to rally but would only get as close as 20-15 before ultimately falling 25-18.

The Royals kept the momentum on their side with a quick 5-0 start. The Jacks answered with two quick points making it 5-2 LRSC. Lake Region than went a 6-1 run to give them full control of the set at 11-3. The Royals pushed their lead to 13-4 forcing a Lumberjack timeout. The timeout was not enough to stop the LRSC momentum as they went on to win set two 25-10.

Just as in the prior two sets the Jacks struggled to get the momentum on their side as in the early stages of the set the Royals went on a 7-0 run to make the score 9-3. DCB would take a timeout to regroup and attempt to slow Lake Region's momentum. LRSC would score one more point before the Jacks could end the run making the score 10-4. The Jacks would try to keep pace with the Royals, but they could not get anything going offensively. With the score 18-10 DCB would use their final timeout of the set. Even after the timeout the game continued down the same path it had been. The Royals went on to win the set and the match 25-14 giving them a 3-0 sweep.

DCB falls to 0-1 overall and in the Mon-Dak. Next up for the Jacks they travel to Jamestown Sunday for a pair of games against the University of Jamestown JV teams for a pair of games starting at 1:30p.m. and 4:30p.m. Any live stream info will be shared on DCB Athletics social media pages.
