The DCB Ladyjacks Volleyball team completed the season sweep of Dickinson State's JV team Tuesday night. DCB backed up a 3-1 win back on August 30th with a 3-0 sweep.
The Ladyjacks started the first set firing on all cylinders jumping out to a 9-3 lead and forcing a DSU timeout. Out of the timeout the Blue Hawks scored two quick points to cut into the deficit. DSU would eventually cut the gap to four at 11-7, before DCB would take back control. The Ladyjacks stretched the lead to eight at 17-9 forcing Dickinson to use their final timeout of the set. A late Blue Hawk rally would fall short and DCB held on to win the set 25-19.
In set two it was Dickinson State getting off to a hot start with an early 5-1 lead. An 8-1 Ladyjack run would put them out front 12-9 and force a Blue Hawk timeout. Out of the timeout DCB continued to lead, but DSU hung around. As the set neared its conclusion the Ladyjacks held a 19-15 lead, and Dickinson used their last timeout of the set. DSU was able to get within two points at 23-21, however a quick two points from DCB gave them the 25-21 set win.
Set three saw DSU again get off to a quick start with a 7-2 lead and forced a DCB timeout. The Blue Hawks controlled the set up until the midway point when the Ladyjacks tied the game at 13-13. From then on it was a struggle for control as no team was able to build a sizable lead. DCB gained a 19-17 lead and forced a Blue Hawk timeout. Out of the timeout the Ladyjacks went on a quick 4-1 run and put them within striking distance of victory and forced Dickinson to use their last timeout. The timeout didn't slow the DCB momentum as they went on to win the set and the match 25-19.
With the win DCB improves to 6-4 overall. The Ladyjacks are back in action for another nonconference game Friday night in "The Woodshed" vs ACC. Gametime is scheduled for 7:00p.m.
