Infront of boisterous crowd in "The Woodshed" the DCB Ladyjacks would come from behind to win back-to-back sets and defeat Dawson Community College Wednesday night 3-2.
With an engaged student section on their side the Ladyjacks would jump out to an early 6-2 lead in set one forcing a DCC timeout. Out of the timeout the Bucs would chip away at the deficit eventually the set would be tied at 11-11. DCC would attempt to quiet the crowd by going on a 6-0 run to take a 17-11 lead. DCB tried to swing momentum back in their favor but were unable to do so. The Bucs went on to win the set 25-16.
The Ladyjacks rebounded in set two starting out with a 7-0 run. DCB was able to stretch their lead to 13-4 forcing a DCC timeout. Out of the timeout the Buccaneers were able to briefly cut into the Ladyjacks lead at 14-7, but the Ladyjacks proved to be to much winning the set 25-13.
DCC responded in set three with a 10-1 run to start the set forcing a DCB timeout. The timeout did not slow down the Bucs as they would extend their lead to 17-5. The Ladyjacks tried to rally late but fell short DCC held on to win the set 25-17.
The Buccaneers kept the momentum rolling into set four jumping out to an early 7-3 lead. DCB rallied and tied the game at 10-10. The set would go back and with neither team gaining the upper hand. DCC would go on a mini 3-0 run to take a 16-13 lead and force a DCB timeout. The Bucs would extend their lead to 21-16 and force the Ladyjacks to use their final timeout of the set. Trailing 23-16 and on the brink of defeat DCB would finish the set on a 9-0 run to win 25-23 and force a deciding 5th set, bringing the crowd in "The Woodshed" to their feet.
In the an fifth and deciding set it was a struggle for control with neither team taking more than a two- or three-point lead. As the team switched sides at the midway point of the set DCB held a narrow 8-5 lead. The Ladyjacks took a 10-8 lead forcing a Buccaneers timeout. Out of the timeout DCB would continue to roll extending their lead to 13-9 forcing the Bucs to use their final timeout. DCC would manage to score one more point, but the Ladyjacks would not be denied completing the comeback and winning the set and match 15-10.
With the win DCB improves to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the Mon-Dak. With the loss Dawson CC falls to 6-11 overall and 2-3 in the Mon-Dak.
