Ladyjacks Sweep Pioneers in Home Opener

Ladyjacks Sweep Pioneers in Home Opener

After playing four straight games on the road to start the season the DCB volleyball team finally got to play in the friendly confines of "The Woodshed." An energetic crowd and team helped pave the way for a Ladyjacks sweep of the Miles Community College Pioneers.

The Ladyjacks came out ready to play right from the first serve. DCB took the lead from the get go and never gave it up in the first set, much to the delight of the fans in "The Woodshed." The Ladyjacks would win the set convincingly 25-14.

Set two saw the score tied at 3-3 early on. The Ladyjacks then proceeded to go on a 10-0 run to catapult them into a 13-3 lead. MCC did not go away though and would slowly chip away getting the DCB lead down to two at 22-20 late in the set. The comeback bid would fall short for the Pioneers with the Ladyjacks taking the set 25-21.

Set three saw DCB jump out to an early lead again at 9-4. Just like in set two MCC was able to rally, but this time they were able to tie the game at 10-10.  The Pioneer took their first lead of the match a 12-11 and stretched it to 14-11 forcing a DCB timeout. Out of the timeout DCB was able to battle back to tie the set. With the score tied at 16-16 DCB would go on a 7-0 run to put them within striking distance of victory at 23-16. MCC managed to stop the Ladyjacks' momentum momentarily, but it wasn't enough as DCB would win the set and the match 25-19.

With the win DCB improves to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the Mon-Dak. Miles Community College falls to 0-13 overall and 0-4 in the Mon-Dak. DCB is back in action tonight from "The Woodshed" taking on Dawson Community College at 7:00p.m. If you can't make it, you can catch the game on the DCB Athletics YouTube page.
