The DCB Ladyjacks volleyball team continues to add talent to their 2020 group of recruits.  DeeJanae Buggs of Houston, Texas signed an NJCAA Letter of Intent on Tuesday to play for the Ladyjacks in the fall of next year.  Buggs is a 5'7" OH hitter that also played in the middle.  She was just named a Cypress 6A All District Honorable Mention playing for Jersey Village High School.  She also played club volleyball with the Asics Red 18U team out of Houston.

Buggs is described by Head Coach Mike Smith as an outstanding athlete.  "DeeJanae is athletic and can jump!  She has a nice approach and gets up well!  She is used to blocking after playing a fair amount of middle the past few seasons.  That fits in well with what we try to do here.  I see a lot of potential in her to be able to play in the back row.  We lose our entire back row so we will need players to step up and be able to contribute in the back, not just as hitters."

Buggs chose DCB over a few other options due to its nursing program and the opportunity to play right away.  She visited the college making the long drive from Houston with her mother.  She is heavily involved in community service with her church and other organizations like Special Olympics and Homes for Humanity.

"She will be a good volleyball player and what's best is she seems like a really nice kid.  Her and her mother were humble and proud to be joining us here in Bottineau," added Smith.

Smith continues to add to a roster that will have 7 sophomores next season.  OH Amy Lewis was added earlier in the fall bringing the 2020 roster to 9.
