In front of a loud home crowd the DCB Ladyjacks put on a great show last night despite dropping a 3-1 decision to Bismarck State College in NJCAA volleyball action.
The Ladyjacks won the first set 25-23 and it looked like the biggest upset in recent memory could be a possibility. The Mysticks awoke in time to reel off three straight wins dropping DCB to 6-10 while improving their record to 15-3.
The Ladyjacks were lead offensively by sophomore middle Tiandre Stuart who picked up 8 kills. Freshman Shonte Seale added 7 while Sophomore Michelle Krahn chipped in 6. Freshman Samantha Harris went the distance at setter picking up 29 assists to go with 3 kills and an Ace.
Defensively Sophomore Libero Karrien Marteniuk had 32 digs while sophomore middle Lexi Gullett registered 3 blocks.
The Ladyjacks will head to Mason City, Iowa this weekend for four games Friday and Saturday. The open the tournament with a 4:00pm Friday match with Iowa Lakes CC and finish the day with a 6:00pm match vs the host team, North iowa Area CC. Saturday they battle Minnesota West CTC (9:00am) followed by a 2:00pm match vs Ellsworth CC.
The Ladyjacks will participate in an Alumni Game Wednesday Oct. 9th starting at 7:00pm. The game is part of the festivities surrounding Homecoming Week. Admission will be free. Come out and see some former players in action agaisnt this year's squad.
