Ladyjack Volleyball drops a 3-0 match to Lake Region on Sophomore night.

The Ladyjacks dropped a straight set match to Lake Region State College last night at the Woodshed by scores of 22-25, 14-25 and 17-25.  The first set was the key as the Ladyjacks seemed to lose momentum after losing a very close set to the playoff bound Royals.

In front of a large and loud crowd the Ladyjacks battled hard but just couldn't keep up with the hitting of LRSC.

Leading attacker freshman Michelle Krahn lead the Ladyjacks in kills with 7 followed by fellow freshman Ashlynn Starry with 4.  Starry added a block, 3 digs and 4 assists on a busy night for her, rotating between setting and right side.

Defensively the team was lead by freshman Libero Sarah Marshall who picked up 13 digs.  The team continued to block well as they picked up 6 team blocks lead by 4 from freshman Lexi Gullett.

It was an emotional night at the Woodshed as the team honored their graduating sophomores in front of a large crowd of family and friends.  Graduates Rebecca Helmeczi, Abbey Franklin and Quinn Billaney all played their last games in DCB Green and White.  Before the game the players were recognized for their contribution to DCB volleyball and were presented with a framed photo montage and flowers and introduced to the crowd by Head Coach Mike Smith.

Helmeczi finishes her career with 70 blocks, 132 kills and played in 175 sets.

Franklin's career highlights are 228 digs, 646 assists in 180 sets played.

Billaney missed half the season with injury but still managed 467 digs in just 116 sets.

MONDAK playoffs begin Wednesday with Lake Region hosting Dawson College and Bismarck hosting Miles City College.
