Depleted Ladyjacks lineup comes out flat in Canada

After their biggest match of the year on Wednesday, a 3-1 win over MONDAK opponent Williston State College, the young Ladyjacks volleyball team travelled to Brandon with confidence hoping to have their first 2 game winning streak.  Perhaps they were over confident, perhaps playing in front of many family and friends in Canada was a distraction but whatever the reason DCB lost to Assiniboine Community College in straight sets 25-11, 25-15, 25-13.  At no point were the games close and Head Coach Mike Smith had no answers for why his team came out so flat.  "It's just one of those nights when you just want to forget about it and move on.  It's tough because I know the effort was there, just nothing seemed to go well."  The team lacked the precision passing they showed a few days earlier and committed several service return errors and struggled with the much different Canadian/International ball and ACC's serve all night.  "There is a lot more float on the ball and our players have been away from that type of serve for a while now," added Smith.  "it's not an excuse because we just didn't play well.  We get them again next week at home and need to rebound'" said Smith.

The team played with just 11 players as starting middle Lexi Gullett was resting an injury sustained in the Williston game and Starting Libero Sarah Marshall made the trip, and dressed, but was too sick to participate.  The team is without captain Quinn Billaney for possibly the remainder of the season with a quad injury.
