Ladyjacks Volleyball gets first win in convincing fashion!

The DCB Ladyjacks volleyball team picked up their first win of the season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Trinity Bible College, 25-17, 25-21, 25-14.  The Ladyjacks (1-6) put the pressure on early taking a commanding 8-2 lead to start the first set.  TBC (1-5)  battled hard throughout the first set but where no match for the attack of the much bigger Ladyjacks.  Freshman OH Michelle Krahn picked up four kills with fellow first year RS Ashlynn Starry adding 3 kills.  The Ladyjacks also served well hitting on 5 aces.  

In the second game Trinity took the lead taking advantage of four DCB errors on route to an early 7-1 lead.  With Trinity leading 10-5 Krahn delivered four consecutive serving points pulling the Ladyjacks within one.  Four lead changes later DCB lead 22-19 only to see TCB fight back to 22-21.  The Ladyjacks then served out the match on their way to the close 25-21 win.  Freshman setter Jayda Kinistino picked up an ace giving her three total for the match.  She also added 8 assists in the Ladyjacks 6-2 offense.  Freshman Middle Amy Stolz picked up 4 kills and an ace while 1st year player Jalen Shephard made 3 consecutive ground shattering kills during the Ladyjack mid-game comeback.  

In the third set DCB's attack was relentless.  Krahn picked up 5 more kills giving her an even 10 for the match.  She chipped in 3 more aces to top off an impressive night.  Kinistino was solid all night with passing and her serve was deadly!  She picked up 3 more Aces giving her a DCB season high 6 for the match.  Sophomore setter Abbey Franklin passed the ball with precision as well picking up 5 assists to give her 15 for the match.

The Ladyjacks will take on Lake Region State College on Wednesday September 12th before heading to Wahpeton for a tournament Sept. 14,15.  Game time Wednesday in Devil's Lake is 7:00pm
