Jacks Earn First Victory of the Season

Bottineau, ND – The Ladyjacks hosted Lake Region State College on Wednesday, September 13th. DCB Volleyball earned their first victory of the year in the 4-set contest (23-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-12).

The Ladyjacks got off to a slow start in the first set then rallied back to tie it up at 16-16. From that point, it was back and forth until the Lady Royals edged DCB out, 25-23. In the second set, LRSC jumped to an early lead but the Ladyjacks answered the bell going on a run to take a 12-9 lead. From then on, it was an even contest with DCB pulling it out, 25-22. DCB had some good runs in the 3rd set, jumping out to a 13-6 lead. The Lady Royals would cut it to 5 points but that was as close as it got with Ladyjacks winning 25-19. The Ladyjacks would eventually close out LRSC in the 4th set by getting off to a RED HOT start and never looking back. They won the last set, 25-12.

Coach Scherr had this to say about her team's great effort, "The girls played as a team unit at all times which led to a lot of great plays. We did a great job of covering the floor and getting touches on defense. Offensively, our girls placed the ball well into their defense which got them out of system. It is hard to single out certain players after this one as everyone did their part.  Victoria Oberfell and Quinn Billaney led our offense in kills, Samantha Cullen and Ryah Young also played a large part in our attacking offense.  Tascha covered the backrow well by getting a lot of accurate passes up to our setters. I am very proud of the team effort of the girls that earned them this win."

The Ladyjacks look to continue the win streak to 2 games as they travel to North Dakota State College of Science next Wednesday, the 20th, at 7:00 PM.
