Slow Start Dooms Lumberjacks

A 13-0 run to start the game from the Williston State College Tetons would be too much for the Lumberjacks women's basketball team to overcome Wednesday night as the Jacks fell.

The Jacks struggled to get things going offensively in the first quarter allowing the Tetons to start on a 13-0 run. The Jacks were able to score just nine points in the first quarter and trailed 32-9 after the first ten minutes.  DCB found some offense in the second quarter but were unable to slow down the Teton offense and trailed at the half 55-25. A bright spot in the first half saw Amari Butler score 11 points and Rozalind Strong add in 10 points.

In the third quarter the two teams went back and forth but the Jacks were unable to cut into the WSC lead. In the fourth quarter the Jacks attempted to make a run. Strong scored 13 in the quarter including three three-pointers. However, the deficit would be too much and DCB would fall 94-74.

Strong led the Jacks with a season high 26 points including 5 three pointers. She was joined in double figures by Butler with 22 points, Hanna Plumbtree with 12 and Kiara Comeaux with 10 points. Canzas Hisbadhorse led the Tetons and all scorers with 30 points.

With the loss DCB falls to 9-8 overall and 3-5 in the Mon-Dak. The Jacks travel to Bismarck State on Monday game time set for 5:30p.m.
