Third Quarter Run Pushes Jacks Past Thunderbirds

A 10-0 run in the late stages of the third quarter would catapalut the Lumberjack women's basketball team to their second Mon-Dak Conference win of the season. DCB was able to take down United Tribes Technical College 75-65. 

The first quarter was a quarter of runs as the teams traded scoring runs throughout the quarter. Thanks to their inside presents and their press it was the Lumberjacks that ended the first quarter with the lead at 26-19. In the second quarter the Jacks would stretch their lead to double figures at 29-19. A 13-2 UTTC run would see them take the lead at 32-31 as the teams entered the media timeout. Both teams would struggle to score in the final minutes of the first half, Amari Butler would shoot a floater as time expired to give the Jacks a 38-36 halftime lead.

The teams trade the lead and buckets for much of the third quarter a late 10-0 DCB run would give them a 60-50 lead as the quarter came to an end the Thunderbirds got a shot to fall making it 60-52 as the teams prepared for the final quarter of play. A strong fourth quarter defensive effort from the Jacks would only allow the Thunderbirds to get within seven points. DCB would build their lead to as many as 13 points before winning by a final score of 75-65

Kiara Comeaux led five Jacks in double-figures with 16 points and 11 assists for a double-double. Butler, Rozalind Strong, and Hanna Plumbtree all finished with 14 points. Karrington Eugene chipped in 11. Myona Dauphnias led the Thunderbirds and all scorers with 19 points. As a team the Jacks forced 33 UTTC turnovers while committing just 15 themselves and dished 15 assists.

With the win DCB improves to 6-4 overall and 2-3 inside the Mon-Dak. Next up for the Jacks they will host Mon-Dak foe Dawson Sunday afternoon starting at 1:00p.m.
