Big Second Half Results in Win over Jamestown JV

A big second half effort on both ends would be required for the Lumberjack women's basketball team to come away with the 81-72 victory Thursday night against the University of Jamestown JV team. 

The first quarter saw both offenses struggle to get things going. It would be the Jimmies that would be able to find their groove first taking a 14-9 lead. The Jacks would answer back finding some momentum of their own in the final two minutes of the quarter. DCB would be able to keep that momentum going at the start of the second quarter to tie the game at 17-17. From then on, the second quarter was a back and forth battle for momentum with neither team able to build much of a lead. At the half the Jimmies held a narrow 36-32 lead.

A strong start to the quarter from the Jimmies would see them build an 11-point lead at 52-41. From there the Jacks would get things rolling on both ends of the floor. An 18-7 run that would span late in the third quarter thanks in part to  9 points from Rozalind Strong in the quarter.  The run would continue early in the fourth quarter would see the Jacks take the lead at 60-58. The Jacks offense got big lifts in the fourth quarter from Hanna Plumbtree and Amari Butler as they would combine for 17 points in the quarter. DCB would take care of the ball down and get crucial stops down the stretch to pick up the 81-72 win.

Plumbtree led all scores with 27 points. Butler joined her in double figures with 16, as did Strong and Karrington Eugene with 14 apiece. Halle Crocket led the Jimmies with 20 points.

With the win DCB improves to 4-3 overall. The Jacks continue non-conference play Monday when they host Dickinson State JV tip off is scheduled for 5:30p.m.
