Thunderbirds use Big Third Quarter to Down Ladyjacks

The Ladyjacks found themselves on the opposite end of a 23-8 run in the third quarter. This would result in an 88-59 loss to the Thunderbirds of United Tribes Technical College.

The teams went back and forth in the first quarter. A combined 16 points from Jacie Hall and Alyssa St Pierre got the offense going for the Ladyjacks. After one UTTC held a narrow 24-20. Lead. In the second quarter the Ladyjack offense and defense were both firing on all cylinders early as DCB opened the quarter on a 14-4 run to give them their largest lead of the game at 34-28. The Thunderbirds closed the half with a run of their own going on a 14-5 run to take a 42-39 lead into the break.

The third quarter was a struggle for the Ladyjacks as they were held scoreless for nearly six minutes coming out of the halftime break. DCB shot just 20% from the field and turned it over ten times in the quarter. Koylynn Gulliford scored two of her 11 points to end the scoring drought and Sabra Peterson knocked down a pair of three pointers for the Ladyjacks. After three quarter UTTC led 65-47. In the fourth Peterson would knock down another three-point shot, and Jaice Hall would score 7 points in the quarter, but the Thunderbirds had built to large of a deficit winning by a final score of 88-59.

The Ladyjacks were led by Jacie Hall with 22 points. She was joined by Sabra Peterson and Koylynn Gulliford in double-figures with 14 and 11 points respectively. Gulliford also had 12 rebounds for a double-double. Tiara Flying Horse led UTTC with 16 points.

With the loss the Ladyjacks fall to 6-16 overall and 0-13 in the Mon-Dak. DCB travels to #25 NDSCS on Thursday with game time set for 5:30p.m.
