Ladyjacks Drop a Pair of Games

The DCB Ladyjacks Basketball team dropped a pair of games this past weekend. Friday DCB fell to the University of Jamestown JV team 71-56 and on Saturday they fell to 13th ranked Bryant and Stratton (WI) 87-52.

71-56 Loss to UJ JV

The first quarter saw both teams go back and forth trying to take control. Sabra Peterson and Koylynn Gulliford each had five points in the quarter to lead the Ladyjacks. After one quarter the teams remained deadlocked at 13 all. The second quarter saw much of the same with neither team able to pull away. A late basket would put the Jimmies up by three at the break by a score of 30-27. Just like the previous two quarters the third quarter saw momentum go back and forth a basket in the final ten seconds of the quarter by Jamestown would tie the game at 42 all. The fourth quarter is when the game took a very different turn. Over the course of the first five minutes of the quarter the Jimmies went on a 15-3 run to give them a 57-45 lead. From there the Jimmies wouldn't look back going on to win 71-56.

The Ladyjacks shot just 33% from the field in the contest compared to the Jimmies 46% DCB was able to cut down on the turnovers in the game committing just 14 compared to the Jimmies 22. Jacie Hall led the Ladyjacks and all scorers with 20 points and pulled in 8 rebounds. Alyssa St Pierre joined her in double figures with 13 points. Jaylin Cotton led the Jimmies with 15 points.

87-52 Loss to #13 Bryant and Stratton (WI)

The Ladyjacks ran into an offensive juggernaut in Bryant and Stratton on Saturday. The Bobcats scored 28 points in the first quarter to take full control of the game leading 28-10 after ten minutes. The Ladyjacks struggled to knock down shots in the first half shooting just 32%. The Bobcats on the other hand shot 51% from the field in the first half taking a 45-18 lead into the locker room. The Ladyjacks had a much better second half shooting going 57% from the field but the deficit was too much to overcome falling 87-52.

Jacie Hall led the Ladyjacks again with 12 points, Alyssa St Pierre joined her in double figures with 11 points. Kylie Lemberger led the Bobcats and all scorers with 22 points. With the losses the Ladyjacks fall to 4-8 overall. DCB will play two games before the holiday break this coming weekend traveling to Jamestown to play the Jimmies JV in the rubber match both teams hold a victory over each other this season. Then Sunday the Ladyjacks get back into Mon-Dak play traveling to Bismarck State to take on the Mystics
