Two Slow Quarters Bite Ladyjacks

The Ladyjacks played right with the Royals of Lake Region State College for two quarters Wednesday night but struggled to score for two quarters ultimately falling 67-50.

The Royals scored the first eight points of the game and gave the DCB offense fits with their 2-3 zone defense. However, the Ladyjacks figured it out and defense buckled down. Sabra Peterson hit two 3-pointers to spark a 15-4 run and give the Ladyjacks a 15-12 lead after one quarter. The second and third quarters were difficult for the Ladyjacks as the Royals defense forced several turnovers and had the Ladyjacks taking some tough shots. LRSC out scored DCB in the second and third quarter by a combined score of 36-17. The Ladyjacks showed a lot of toughness in the fourth quarter hanging right with the Royals before falling 67-50.

Here is what Coach Roberts had to say about the contest and his team after the game, "I'm really proud of these girls we got down early and the responded and were able to take the lead. When things didn't go our way in the second and third quarter the could have easily given up and the margin of victory could have been a lot bigger but they battled in the fourth quarter and I was happy to see that."

Jacie Hall led the Ladyjacks with 18 points and 11 rebounds. This was Hall's fifth double-double of the season. Sabra Peterson joined her in double figures with 14 points. Kyla Fitzgerald led Lake Region and all scorers with 19 points.

With the loss DCB falls to 2-5 overall and 0-5 in the Mon-Dak. The Ladyjacks host Mile Community College Friday night with game time scheduled for 5:30p.m.
