Ladyjacks Use Big 2nd Half to beat Jimmies

The DCB Ladyjacks would score 49 second half point enroute to a 77-59 win over the University of Jamestown JV team.

The two teams were very competitive in the first quarter both shooting 36% from the floor but eight extra shots for the Ladyjacks resulted in a 19-10 lead for DCB at the end of one quarter. The Ladyjacks struggled shooting and with turnover in the second quarter allowing the Jimmies to get back into it. Jamestown would take a 28-24 lead with just over two minutes left in the quarter. Back-to-back baskets by Koylynn Gulliford just before the quarter ended would tie the game up heading into halftime.

The Ladyjacks got things rolling in the 3rd quarter with an 11-3 run over a three-minute time period giving them a 44-34 lead. The Jimmies picked up their defense enabling them to get stops and were able to answer with a 7-2 run of their own. Late in the third quarter Gulliford was able to tip a pass and get a steal allowing Lexie Nelson a fast break lay up to put the Ladyjacks up 53-46 after three quarters. Sabra Peterson hit a deep 3-pointer to put the Ladyjacks up by double figures at 58-48 and that's all the closer the Jimmies would get. DCB went on to win 77-59.

The Ladyjacks shot 58% from the field in the second half. DCB was able to put five players in double figures led by Alyssa St Pierre with 21 points, she added 8 rebounds. Jacie Hall had another double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Sabra Peterson, Koylynn Gulliford, and Alexa St Pierre each had 11 points. The Ladyjacks got contributions from the two players not in double figures as Whitni Peck and Lexie Nelson each had 3 offensive rebounds.

Heres what Coach Roberts had to say after the win "I was very pleased with how our girls responded when Jacie was struggling. The rest of the team was able to pick up the slack. Our defense really stepped up tonight forcing 22 turnovers."

With the win DCB improves to 2-4 overall. The Ladyjacks are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Lake Region for a conference game. Game time is set for 6:30p.m.
