Ladyjacks Sweep Season Series

Ladyjacks Sweep Season Series

The Ladyjacks came into the final half of the week looking to build off their win against United Tribes Technical College on Monday. The Ladyjacks squared off with the Wildcats from North Dakota State College of Science on Thursday night and finished off the week playing the Lake Region State Royals.

In the game against the Wildcats the Ladyjacks struggled to get into a groove. "We had problems putting the ball in the basket, that can't be done against a strong, quality team like the Wildcats. I thought we fought despite the poor shooting night," Coach Johnson commented. The Ladyjacks were out scored in every quarter, never really getting close to the Wildcats. The final score read Wildcats 75 Ladyjacks 43.

Coming off a tough defeat to the Wildcats, the Ladyjacks looked to come out swinging against the Royals. The Ladyjacks won the previous two match ups against the Royals by a score off 62-45 and 80-41 however, it was the Royals that came out swinging against the Ladyjacks. The Royals jumped out to a 16-10 lead however, the second quarter saw the Ladyjacks bounce back and outscore the Royals, taking the lead into halftime 35-34. The Royals kept it close in the second half and competed all the way with the Ladyjacks but it was not enough as the Ladyjacks won 71-66. In the game, the Ladyjacks had five players score in double figures with Maria Moore totaling 16 points herself.

Coach Johnson commented on the game saying, "It was a very competitive game with 11 lead changes and seven ties. We built a seven-point lead in the second half, but they battled back to go up two late in the contest."

After the win against the Royals, the Ladyjacks improved to 15-8 on the season. This upcoming week the Ladyjacks will square off at home the next three game dates, starting with NHSC on Wednesday, the Mystics from Bismarck State on Thursday, and Dawson Community College on Sunday.
