Ladyjacks knock off Pioneers

The Ladyjacks traveled to Miles City on Tuesday night to face the Pioneers. The Ladyjacks came into the game with a 6-3 record, and looked to knock of the Pioneers for the first time in a few years. It would take a total team effort to make that possible as the Pioneers came out ready to play, having seen there season of to the start off 2-8, the Pioneers were desperate for a win at home.

The first quarter would see the Ladyjacks look sluggish, the Pioneers would come in and build a six-point lead. Battling back, the Ladyjacks would make it a one-point game after the 1st quarter. From there the two teams would battle back and forth. There would be 10 lead changes in the game, along with the game being tied up 5 different times.

Going into halftime the Ladyjacks would be ahead 33-32. The lead would never grow until Maria Moore would hit a step back 3 pointer with a minute left to give the Lumberjacks the space they would need. Alyssa St. Pierre had a big night for the Ladyjacks, coming off the bench St. Pierre would have 14 points and 4 rebounds. In her first action of the season Sophomore Haylie Conradsen would come up big  for the Ladyjacks as she would put up 12 points and 3 assists to help pace the Ladyjacks to victory. A night that saw momentum swing from side to side every two minutes ended with the Ladyjacks winning 73-65.

"The depth paid off for us and we had some excellent contributions off the bench from our returners." Coach Johnson said after the game. Overall Coach Johnson was not just pleased with the night but how the Ladyjacks have done so far this season. "We are pleased with our overall 7-3 record but understand there is much work to do to get to where we want to be at playoff time. We are getting our depth back and how we respond and can stay together as a team will be the key factor in our progress". Coach Johnson ended with. The Ladyjacks are still without Trinity Googles and hope to see her back in action the start of the second semester.

Next up for the Ladyjacks they will face Jamestown JV (Dec. 3rd) and Bryant and Stratton (Dec. 4th), who currently is rated 13 in the nation in the NJCAA Division 2 ranks.
