In the last match up before the Thanksgiving Holiday, the Dakota College at Bottineau Ladyjacks traveled to New Town, North Dakota to take on the Nueta Hidasta Sahnish Community College Storm. Ladyjacks came into the night 5-3, but this season has been greatly affected by injuries and Covid. Tuesday night gave Ladyjack fans an opportunity to see four players in uniform that either have not been able to play yet this season, or have not been able to play for an extended time period . Morgan Haerer, Jaidyn Brummond, and Kaitlynn Scherr were back in action for the first time since November 1st against Turtle Mountain Community College. Oliva Nero was able to suit up for the first time this season. It was the first time that the Ladyjacks saw 13 girls in uniform this year and 11 would get into the scoring column against the Storm.

During Tuesday evening's game, it was not the scoring that stood out to Coach Johnson, but the defensive effort. DCB would hold the Storm to only 12 points in the first half. Coach Johnson remarks "Defensively I thought we played pretty well, especially in the first half. Everyone contributed to the defensive effort and I thought we connected on this end of the court for most of the game." Some of the individual defensive efforts that stood out were Kaitlynn Scherr in her first game back. Scherr came away with 4 steals for the Ladyjacks, and Maria Moore and Morgan Haerer were flying around getting 3 defensive deflections themselves.

In the second half the Storm was able to put up more points but never got into shouting distance of DCB. The final score would read Ladyjacks 78 Storm 41. Leading DCB in scoring again was Sophomore Guard Maria Moore who dumped in 22 points. Sophomore Mikalyn Berglof had a night to remember coming off the bench for DCB, adding 15 points for the Ladyjacks. "Mikalyn was hot from the three-point line going 5 for 7 from deep. It was a fun night for the Ladyjacks." Coach Johnson commented.

The Ladyjacks will be back into action on November 30th as they will play Miles Community College. To end the week, DCB will play on December 3rd and 4th in the AmericInn Classic in Wahpeton, North Dakota. The Ladyjacks will be playing Jamestown JV (Dec. 3rd at 1:00 P.M) and Bryant and Stratton College (WI) (Dec. 4th at 11:00 A.M). On December 7th, DCB will have a rematch with the Storm in the Woodshed, followed by two exhibitions against Sisseton Wahpeton College. The remaining two games of the semester will see DCB host Turtle Mountain Community College on Dec. 14th and Northland Community College on Dec. 15th.
