Ladyjacks fall to UTTC, Bismarck State up next

On Thursday, February 6th, the DCB Ladyjacks WBB team traveled to Bismarck to take on NJCAA D2 Region XIII rival United Tribes Technical College.  The game was close throughout, but UTTC prevailed at the end 73-67.

UTTC started out strong and led by 5 at the end of the first half.  The lead fluctuated in the second half, but UTTC had enough to outlast the Ladyjacks.   DCB had 4 players in double figures led by Sydnie Nelson's 17 points.  Lauren Gangl added 15 and Trinity Goggles scored 11 to go along with 6 rebounds.  Jayla Howard had a team high 5 assists to go along with 10 points.

From Coach Johnson; "It was a good competitive game but a disappointing finish for us.  We got behind early and fought back to take the lead a number of times.  There were 8 lead changes and 4 ties in the game so that shows the competitiveness of the contest.  We were down 2 at the 4:00 mark of the 4th quarter but they went on a 7-0 run to go up 9 and we couldn't get it any closer than the final score.  This loss puts us a game behind the Thunderbirds in the battle for home court in the playoffs.  Things can happen yet, but our main concern is just to finish our last two weeks strong making progress so regardless where we play, we will be ready."

The Ladyjacks will have a busy week with 3 games in 4 days beginning Monday, February 10th when they host Bismarck State at the Woodshed.  DCB will then step out of MonDak Conference play on Tuesday with a home game against Trinity Bible, then travel on February 12th for a game the next day at Miles Community College.  The Ladyjacks then have 2 home games the following week, including a big one against Williston State on the 20th which will figure prominently into whether DCB hosts a playoff game this year.

Game time for the Monday games at the Woodshed will be 5:30 PM for the women and 7:30 for MBB.
