Sophomore Victoria Obergfell dropped in 23 points to lead DCB to a 55-54 victory over Williston State College on Thursday night in Williston.

It was a huge win to say the least!  The Ladyjacks with one MonDak conference win needed to defeat Williston State College (3-9 going into the game) to give them any chance at hosting their Division II MonDak Conference play off game against United Tribes.  Tribes was sitting with two wins.  To add extra pressure the Jacks would have to beat the Tetons on Sophomore night in their own building.  That's exactly what they did Thursday night as they came from behind to edge the Tetons 55-54 in a thrilling game in Williston.

The teams stayed close most of the first half and went to the break at 22-21 in favor of the Tetons.  Both teams played tough in their own end with the Ladyjacks plugging up the middle forcing Williston to try and beat them from the outside.  The Tetons sunk just 4 three-pointers on 19 attempts and the Ladyjacks did not allow Williston many extra attempts gobbling up 30 defensive rebounds.

The Ladyjacks were down by 7 at the end of the third but didn't fade and instead mounted a comeback, slowly chipping away at the Tetons lead.  The Ladyjacks ultimately won on superior shooting both from the field where they shot 43.8% compared to the Tetons 28.8% and from the foul line where they were 76.9% compared to 69.6% for Williston.

Leading scorer Victoria Obergfell was the games top point getter with 23.  She shot an impressive 8 for 16 from the floor including 3/5 from behind the arc.

Defensively the Ladyjacks were dominant.  A true team effort as all 9 players played at least 14 minutes, picked up at least 1 rebound and generally made the Tetons uncomfortable on offense.

The Ladyjacks and United Tribes will finish their season this weekend with the Ladyjacks hosting NDSCS Sunday February 24th at 2:00pm.  Tribes will finish with a game against undefeated Miles Community College.  A win by either team on Sunday would mean they would host the MonDak final, or as it is officially known, the Region XIII Semi-final, on Wednesday February 27.  The winner of this game will advance to the Region XIII Final.

If both teams finish with the same record, they are both currently at 2 wins, a coin toss will determine the host.  The two teams split their previous games with both teams winning on the road.

Come on down to the Woodshed Sunday to catch the last home regular season game of the 2018-19 season.  Let's hope we will get at least one more next Wednesday night!
