Ladyjacks Basketball Outshot in Second Half

The DCB Ladyjacks (8-9) were very good for the first 20 minutes Monday night at the Woodshed against a strong Bismarck State College (12-3) team.   DCB trailed by just 3 at the half.  The second half however was a different story as the Mystics pulled away for a 113-77 win.

"I thought we played some pretty good basketball in the first half, especially the first quarter," said Head Coach Wayne Johnson.  DCB just couldn't defend BSC's explosive offense giving up a seaosn high 113 points.

There were a number of positives as the Ladyjacks did not have trouble with Bismarck's full court pressure, something they used often throughout the game.  The Ladyjacks struggled with this earlier in the year.  They shot the ball quite well and had some good individual performances.  Taylor Keplin continues to add some scoring off the bench hitting 4 three-pointers and finishing with a season high 14 points.  Breanna Thompson had a season high 9 rebounds and added 9 points.  Top scorer Victoria Obergfell continued to pour in points picking up 23.  Amber Stevahn lead Bismarck with 34 points.

The Ladyjacks don't get much of a rest as they travel to Bismarck to battle United Tribes Technical College on Thursday January 17.  United and DCB will battle for the MonDak Division II title at the end of the year and this game will help who will host that playoff series.  United sits at 12-5 and defeated Williston State College on Monday 89-62.  Game time is 5:30pm.
