Ladyjacks Go 1-1 at the Northland CTC Classic Basketball Tournament

Friday January 4:

The DCB Ladyjacks basketball team got off to a slow start against Canadian Mennonite University.  The Ladyjacks trailed 12-10 after the first quarter and were behind by 7 half way through the second quarter.  DCB went on a run eventually passing the Blazers and went to the locker-room up 27-22 at the halfway point.

The Ladyjacks were much better in the second half outscoring their opposition 36-13 for a 63-35 win.  Coach Wayne Johnson, while acknowledging that they didn't rebound real well, was happy with the second half performance.  "I was pleased with our team play in that stretch.  Offensively we moved the ball and got good shots and defensively we did a good job of turning them over, stated Johnson.

Victoria Obergfell was the top scorer with 22 followed by Madison Uhlenkamp with 12.  Taylor Keplin had a season high 10 points off the bench to finish in double figures for the first time. Keplin also lead the team with 5 steals playing her best game of the season.  Obergfell was the top rebounder with 7.

Saturday January 5:

Obergfell again lead the team in scoring with 14 followed by Ellie Messmer's 11.  Obergfell chipped in 6 rebounds and Breanna Thompson added 5.
