Ladyjacks Basketball 7-4 After Win At Home

The Ladyjacks (7-4) basketball team started off slowly but eventually pulled away from a short staffed Turtle Mountain Community College squad, winning 86-68 in front of their home-town supporters on Tuesday night.

The Ladyjacks had a slim 47-41 lead at the half as they were outscored in the first quarter and were unable to mount a consistent offense.  They were a little soft defensively allowing the Mighty Mikinocks to stay close.  "Defensively I thought we really lacked awareness in the first half and they took advantage" explained Coach Wayne Johnson.

The Ladyjacks tightened up their defense in the second half limiting TMCC to just 27 points.  For the second game in a row the Ladyjacks controlled the ball committing just 11 turnovers compared the TMCC's 22.

Team scoring leader Vic Obergfell again was the game's top scorer with 28.  Abby Iverson and Kinze Martinson each added 14.  Obergfell completed the double/double with 12 rebounds.  Martinson picked up 7.

Obergfell added 3 assists and 5 steals to top off an excellent performance.

DCB will travel to Wahpeton for games Friday vs Jamestown JV (1:00pm) and Saturday vs Bryant and Stratton College (11:00am).
