Ladyjack Basketball off to Hot 2-0 Start

The Ladyjacks women's basketball team opened their regular season with two wins in the Woodshed last weekend. A Saturday victory over Providence College by a score of 72-48 was the result of a very good defensive effort by the Ladyjacks. Excellent ball pressure and good support by teammates limited the Pilots to 21% field goal shooting and forced 31 turnovers. The Ladyjacks were led in scoring by Vic Obergfell with 30 points. Contributing to a dominating rebounding performance by the Jacks were Ellie Messmer with 12 rebounds, while Vic Obergfell and Breanna Thompson contributed 10 boards. Dior Dioum had a team high 8 steals.

Sunday the Ladyjacks defeated the North Country All-Stars by a score of 72-59. Three Ladyjacks were in double figure scoring—Vic Obergfell 22, Dior Dioum 15, and Breanna Thompson 11. Dior Dioum led the Ladyjacks in rebounding with 10 and assists with 5. The next game on the schedule for the ladies will be Tuesday when they travel to Belcourt to take on TMCC at 6:00 p.m.

Next home event will be the Cobblestone Classic on November 17th & 18th. The game times are set for 6:00 PM on Friday and 3:00 PM on Saturday.
