Elisa Clay started the softball season off in fine form going 8 for 11 with 3 doubles and 6 RBI.  For this she was awarded with the NJCAA Division III Player of the Week.

The sophomore 1B was a force and is expected to lead a powerful DCB offense this season.  She won't maintain a .727 batting average but Head Softball Coach Mike Smith expects a big year from Clay.  "Elisa is an accomplished hitter.  She should have a big year and be one of the Nation's top hitters.  We have a good lineup around her which makes it tough to pitch around her.  She has picked up where she left off last season," stated Smith.

"I honestly wasn't expecting to be doing this well.  I've been working really hard trying to keep my batting average high, said Clay.  Clay is trying to earn a scholarship at the NAIA or NCAA level once she has finished her second season in Bottineau.

"There are teams inquiring about Elisa and she will be an outstanding hitter at the next level," added Smith.

The Ladyjacks are in action Friday February 21st at the Irish Dome in Rosemount, Minnesota and Feb. 22nd at the RCTC Dome in Rochester, Minnesota.
