Winning Streak Snapped

In the past 16 games, the Lumberjack hockey team has been playing extremely well to give themselves a winning streak for the ages. With the Minot State Beavers rolling into town, the Jacks wanted to keep their hot streak going before heading to Nationals in New York.

With the puck dropping, the Jacks knew they had a lot on their hands with the Beavers as MSU pressured their zone regularly. Early on in the first, Harrison Aide was able to get a goal as Matt Miniaci and Charles Joly were accredited with the assists. With a little over two minutes to play, the Beavers were able to get one of their own to tie it up before the intermission.

In the second, MSU scored two quick goals to give the Beavers a 3-1 lead over the Jacks. With a player in the penalty box, Harrison Aide was able to get a short handed goal to bring the Jacks within one.

As the puck dropped in the third, Josh Colleaux was able to tie the game for the Jacks at three as Harrison Aide got the assist. Shortly after, Minot went on a power play and was able to capitalize to give the Beavers a one goal lead. As time ticked, the Jacks were having trouble getting it out of their zone, but great passing by Aide and Joly led to Miniaci putting one in the back of the goal; game now tied at four. With less than seven minutes remaining in the game, the Beavers took advantage of a loose puck in front of the net and scored to give them the lead 5-4. With time working against them, the Jacks tried to tie the game up, but were unsuccessful as the buzzer sounded.

The Jacks concluded their regular season and will travel to the national tournament in Binghampton, NY.
