Jacks Can't Overcome Early Deficit Against Bucs

The Lumberjack Men's Basketball team was unable to overcome an early deficit and fell to the Dawson Community College Bucs 89-74.

The Jacks got off to a slow start falling behind 13-6 in the early going. A 5-0 run would bring the Jacks back within two points at 13-11, but that's as close as they would get. 14 first half turnovers would result in Dawson being able to build a 12-point halftime lead at 47-35. Brendan Redhead paced the Jacks with 12 first half points.

In the second half the Lumberjacks played virtually even with the Bucs in the second half. At one-point DCB had cut the DCC lead to just five but would be unable to get any closer. When the buzzer sounded the Lumberjacks fell 89-74.

Redhead led all scorers and three Lumberjacks in double-figures with 34 points. Danny Lazic and Brayden West-Linnett each scored 11. Ty Buckmon led Dawson with 17 points.

With the loss DCB falls to 14-7 overall and 6-6 inside the Mon-Dak. The Lumberjacks' game Monday at United Tribes has big playoff implications. The team higher in the standings at the end of the regular season host the regional tournament. UTCC currently sits one game ahead of DCB in the standings. Monday's game has a scheduled tip time of 7:30p.m.
