Jacks Right Ship Against Royals

The Lumberjack men's basketball team were able to return to their winning ways Wednesday night with a 68-60 win over Lake Region State College.

The Royals had things clicking early as they took an 18-8 lead just prior to the halfway point in the period. The Jacks had a run in them over the next five minutes DCB would outscore LRSC 12-0 to take a 22-18 lead. The run was sparked by Brendan Redhead who had 15 first half points. The teams would trade baskets and the lead the remainder of the period as the teams entered the locker room for halftime the Jacks led 34-32.

In the early going of the second half, it would be the Royals who got off to a quick start again with a 6-0 run to give them a 38-34 lead. Out of a DCB timeout the Jacks would come out in a press and get things rolling. A 10-2 run would give DCB the lead back at 44-40.  The teams would swamp the lead a few more times before back-to-back baskets by Cael Simpson would put the Jacks up 51-50 a lead the Jacks would not relinquish for the remainder of the game. Down the stretch the DCB defense would get the crucial stops and make just enough free throws to win 68-60.

Redhead led all scorers with 31 points. He was joined in double-figures by Max Groom with 13 points. Blessed Barhayiga led the Royals with 22 points.

With the win the Jacks move to 7-4 overall and 2-4 inside the Mon-Dak. Next up for DCB they host Williston State College Monday for another Mon-Dak conference game. Tip-off set for 7:30p.m.
