Slow Start Plagues Lumberjacks

A slow start for the Lumberjack men's basketball would be something they would be unable to overcome Sunday afternoon falling 78-56 to the NDSCS Wildcats.

The Jacks offense struggled to get anything going early in the first half and fell behind 22-9. For the next several minutes the Jacks were able to play even with the Wildcats but would be unable to dig themselves out of a double-digit deficit. A late NDSCS run would put them up 47-29 at the half. Max Groom led the Jacks with 12 points.

The Lumberjacks rallied to start the second half with a 14-5 run to cut the Wildcat lead down to single digits at 52-43 lead. Wai'apo Louis led that run with 8 points. After getting the deficit down to seven at 52-45 the tables would turn for the Jacks as an 11-2 run would see NDSCS build their lead back up to 63-47. DCB would be unable to get the get the deficit down to single digits as the Wildcats would go on to win the game 78-56.

Groom led the Jacks with 12 and was the only Lumberjack in double-figures. Ja'quan Ingram led the Wildcats and all scorers with 20 points.

DCB falls to 6-4 overall and 1-4 inside Mon-Dak play. Next up for the Jacks they host Lake Region State College Wednesday game time set for 7:00p.m.
