Groom's Career High Not Enough for Jacks Against Pioneers

Despite a career high 36 points from Max Groom the Lumberjack men's basketball team would be unable to come away with a win Wednesday night. The Jacks fell to Mon-Dak conference foe Miles Community College 84-70.

The Pioneers would be able to build a small lead early in the half. MCC would be able to keep the Jacks at arm's length until late in the half when trailing by nine at 35-26 the Jacks would go on a 8-1 run over the final three minutes of the first half to cut the MCC lead to two points at halftime at 36-34.

Coming out of the halftime break the Pioneers would open the half on a 10-2 run to take a ten point lead 46-36. From there it would be all Pioneers as the Jacks would only be able to get back within 8 on a few occasions. Anytime it looked like DCB was preparing to make a run MCC had an answer on the offensive end of the floor in the end MCC would walk away with the win 84-70.

Max Groom led all scorers with a career high 36 points. He was joined in double figures by Shadon Judd-Danne Anderson with 10. Ethan Venema paced the Pioneers with 30 points.

With the loss DCB falls to 6-3 overall and 1-3 inside the Mon-Dak. Next up the Jacks continue conference play Sunday at NDSCS game time set for 3:00p.m.
