Jacks Cruise to Non-Conference Sweep

The DCB Lumberjacks wrapped up their non-conference schedule with a pair of wins this past weekend. On Friday DCB took down CMU 92-73, and on Saturday the Jacks defeated the Lions of Trinity Bible College 115-75.

Friday 92-73 Win

After not having a game in 27 days the Jacks offense came out firing on all cylinders. DCB used a balanced attack in the first half to build their lead as the Jacks had three players in double figures after the first 20 minutes of play. Brendan Redhead had 14 points, Connor Trahan scored 13 point, and Jacob Smith added in 10. DCB held a 53-33 lead at the break.

In the second half Loukas Triantis got going in second half scoring 11 points in the final twenty minutes. When the dust settled every Jack who saw the floor was able to tally at least two points enroute to the 92-73 win. In the game DCB totaled a season high 23 assists. The Jacks also shot 49.4% from the floor and held CMU to just 38% shooting. Brendan Redhead and Jacob Smith each had 18 points to lead four Jacks in double figures. Connor Trahan finished with 13 points and Loukas Triantis had 12.  

Saturday 115-75 Win

The Jacks were able to keep the offense rolling on Saturday with another balanced attack. Five Jacks scored at least 6 points. At the half DCB held a commanding 58-38 lead. Just like in the first half the Jacks used a balanced attack to stay in full control of the game. DCB had four players register six or more points in the second half. For the game the Jacks grabbed 19 rebounds compared to the Lions 4 and out rebounded TBC 55-25. DCB dished out 21 assists in the game and shot 52.3% from the field.

Brendan Redhead led five Jacks in double figures with 28 points. Jacob Smith added in 22, Max Groom had 18, Connor Trahan had 12 on four 3-pointers, and Jon Rey Taylor dropped in 10.

With the win DCB improves to 12-4 overall and currently sit at 5-2 in the Mon-Dak which is good enough for third place. The Jacks will play their final fourteen games inside the Mon-Dak. They are currently tied with region foe United Tribes at 5-2. The Jacks hold the tie breaker due to their 107-106 OT win earlier this season. Should the Jacks finish ahead of UTTC they would be the number one seed on their side of the bracket for the region tournament later this season. Just ahead of DCB and UTTC sits NDSCS, and Dawson Community College tied at 6-1 in the Mon-Dak. The Jacks currently have a handful of players inside the top five in many conferences' statistical categories. Brendan Redhead sits fifth in the conference in scoring at 17.1PPG. Jacob Smith sits third in the Mon-Dak in both rebounds and FG% with 8.3RPG and shooting 58.7%. Max Groom ranks fifth in FG% and third in 3PT FG% with 56.2% and 48.5% respectively. DCB returns to Mon-Dak play with a pair of home games this weekend hosting Williston State College on Wednesday with game time set for 7:30p.m. and Bismarck State College on Sunday with game time set for 3:00p.m.
