Busy weekend for Jacks Athletics

Busy weekend for Jacks Athletics

The Fall Semester is quickly coming to a finish, with only two weeks left of classes at Dakota College at Bottineau, things look to be slowing down. That is not the case for DCB athletics as four teams this weekend. The Men's and Women's Basketball teams will hit the road this weekend as they will play in the AmericInn Classic in Wahpeton, North Dakota. The Men Hockey's team will travel to Crookston, Minnesota to take on the University of Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles. Lastly, the Women Hockey's team has the farthest drive this weekend as they will travel to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to take on University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and University of Wisconsin-Stout. In total there are 7 games on tap this weekend for Jacks Athletics.

Ladyjack Basketball:

Coming off a win on the road in Miles City, the Ladyjacks look to continue their early season success as they take Jamestown JV (Friday) and Bryant & Stratton College (Saturday) this weekend. Coach Johnson believes it will be a good weekend, one that will see two competitive teams. "We will now face a couple of more tough tests this weekend when we travel to Wahpeton to take on the Jamestown Jimmies JV and Bryant and Stratton of Wisconsin on Saturday. The Jimmies (Jamestown) have knocked off a couple of our Mon-Dak teams convincingly in the past week and Bryant and Stratton is currently the 13 rated team in the NJCAA Division 2 polls." Coach Johnson stated. To watch Ladyjacks Basketball games this weekend, click here.

Lumberjack Basketball:

Like the women's team, the Lumberjack basketball team will be at the AmericInn Classic in Wahpeton. They will also face off against Jamestown JV and Bryant & Stratton College. Coach Sorby is excited for the weekend, "Another big weekend for us as we will play another D2 opponent in Bryant & Stratton (WI) College and Jamestown JV. Both programs will present us with different challenges. We have had a good week of practice, now it is time to put it to the test". Lumberjack Hockey:

The men's hockey team will travel to Crookston, Minnesota to take on the Golden Eagles. Last weekend the #2 ranked Lumberjacks of the West Region squared off in a battle with #1 ranked University of Mary Marauders of the West Region in a pair of contests. Wednesday night the Lumberjacks hit the road to Williston and came away with a 3-2 OT win, with Bottineau's very own Ian Amsbaugh sniping in the game winning shot for the Lumberjacks. 5 games have gone into overtime this season, leaving the Lumberjacks with a record of 6-4-1.

Ladyjack Hockey:

The woman's hockey team is back in action again after having some time off during the Thanksgiving break. With a record of 3-1 and now ranked #1 in the West Region standings, the Ladyjacks travel to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to play the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and University of Wisconsin-Stout. The Ladyjacks on the season so far have swept the NDSU Bison and split with Assiniboine Community College. Sophomore Crystal Wale is leading the charge with 9 goals in 4 games. DCB also has two outstanding goaltenders in Karlee Schmitt and Chloe Burt, who both crack the top 15 goaltenders in the nation for Save Percentage. The Ladyjacks look to stay on top with a tough 3 game run this weekend.
