The DCB Lumberjack basketball team kicked off 2019 in fine fashion winning both games at the Northland CTC Classic tournament in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.

The Jacks opened up the tournament Friday January 4th with a convincing 105-45 win vs CMU.  All nine players saw at least 15 minutes of action in a game that was dominated by the Jacks.

Dwaine Simmons was the team's top scorer with 26 while Rodrigo Majarin and Tyrie Johnson added 17.  Simmons had a dominant performance picking up a season high 20 rebounds.  Faysal Coulibaly and Dante Brunnelli also had double figure boards with 10 each.

On Saturday the Jacks held on for a 70-69 victory over Northland College.  DCB lead 38-28 at the half only to see the Pioneers storm back and make it a very close game.

Tyrie Johnson with 20 and Simmons with 18 were the Jacks leading scorers.  Simmons again dominated inside picking up 19 rebounds, 10 more then any other player on both teams.

The Jacks (6-10) will begin conference play Thursday with a home game vs MonDak rival Lake Region State College.  Lake Region, a Division I team, sits at 12-5.  The teams faced each other in early November with the Lakers coming away with a 78-63 win.

Game time is 7:30pm at the Woodshed!
