Lumberjacks Finish Semester 14-0

The Dakota College at Bottineau men's basketball team finished off first semester play with a perfect 14-0 record. Over the weekend, the Lumberjacks won 2 games in the NDSCS Circle of Nations Classic in Wahpeton, ND. The victory on Friday came over a tough Jamestown JV program, 89-78, and Saturday's win was over Region 13 member Dakota County Technical College, 85-79.

The Jacks had to rely on their defense to beat Jamestown JV. DCB had a cold shooting night only making 1/16 from three point range. The Lumberjacks were led in scoring by Jordell Ross with 24, and he also led the team in rebounds with 13. Three other players managed to reach double-figures in scoring - Jibril Wyckoff and Raybon Lewis both added 12 while Antonio Singleton notched 11. Lewis finished with 10 rebounds giving him another double-double on the year. There were 18 lead changes in the game along with 5 ties. The Jacks did not separate themselves until late when Wyckoff got 2 steals and 2 dunks sparking the Lumberjacks to go on a run.

In Saturday's victory over Dakota County Technical College, the Jacks offense had 5 players in double-figure scoring. Antonio Singleton finished the game with 24 points. Carl Armstrong, Jibril Wyckoff, and Jermaine Smith all added 11 points each and Erik Palmer scored 10 for the Jacks. It was another cold shooting night for the Jacks as they finished 38% from the field but their defense was solid. They were able to turn DCTC over 19 times and held them under 37% field goal percentage for the game. It was an exciting game and could make for a fun matchup in February in the Region 13 tournament.

It was a very successful first semester for the Jacks winning all their contests. They will look to carry that momentum into conference play come January. The Lumberjacks will have a long break and will not be in action again until January 4th and 5th for the Northland CTC Tournament in Thief River Falls, MN.
