Men's Basketball Opens Season 2-0

The Dakota College at Bottineau men's basketball team saw action over the weekend. The original schedule was to play Providence College at 8:00 PM on Saturday, November 4th, and Mayville State JV at 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 5th. However, due to inclement weather, Mayville State JV was not able to make the trip. Instead, the Jacks played two games on Saturday. DCB faced off against Stone Child College at 4:00 PM and Providence College at 8:00 PM.

The men's program won both games by double digit margins. The score of the first game against Stone Child was 113-97. It was a balanced scoring attack with six guys scoring in double figures led by Antonio Singleton with 25 points. Singleton also led the team in rebounding with 11 finishing the game with a double-double. He provided some excitement for everyone in the building with some monstrous dunks. The Jacks applied a lot of pressure on defense allowing them to get out in transition for some easy baskets.

In the second game vs. Providence College, the Jacks put up 136 points while only allowing 84. It was a similar story as the first game. The Lumberjacks were able to cause some turnovers with their pressure allowing them to get out in transition to make plays. The scoring was balanced again in the second game with nine guys scoring in double figures. Jibril Wyckoff led the Jacks with 28 points and some exciting finishes at the rim. Dwaine Simmons led the team in rebounding with 13, he finished the game with a double-double. Deylon Hunt had a double-double scoring 17 points and setting up teammates with 10 assists.

It was a rough but successful day for DCB Men's Basketball having to play two games in one day. They are in action again on Tuesday, November 7th, at Turtle Mountain Community College. The gametime is set for 8:00 PM on TMCC's campus.
