A few weeks ago, the DCB Lumberjacks returned from a road trip to Oklahoma splitting their four games.  The Jacks get set to hit the field again this upcoming weekend at Proctor High School in Duluth, Minnesota.  They will square off against Minnesota West and Rainy River.

So far this young season, Jean Tirado and Casey Mack are emerging as leaders for the Lumberjacks.  Both players have a batting average of .438, coming away with seven hits a-piece in their previous games played. Not far behind them is Bottineau native Wolfdon Thorson who is batting .400 for the Lumberjacks. Thorson is also currently leading the Lumberjacks with five RBI's this season. Looking ahead from a pitching standpoint, the Lumberjacks look to put together a complete weekend without the difficulties of previous games. Stanley, North Dakota native Cody Ruden came away in Oklahoma with one of the wins for the Lumberjacks on the mound, while the other came from Dillon Marco of Rugby, North Dakota.

Naturally, the opponents for the Lumberjacks this weekend are also hoping for a solid weekend. Josh Koenig who is entering for his 10th season at the school leads the Rainy River Voyageurs from the MCAC Conference. Rainy River is currently sitting at 3-5 overall as a team. One of the astonishing stats for the Voyageurs is their .478 on base percentage. It will be crucial for the young Lumberjack staff to trim down that percentage if they want to come away with success against the Voyageurs.

Minnesota West is also from the MCAC Conference, with a record of 4-11. With recent success Minnesota West has won 3 out of their last 5 games. They are hoping to keep that mojo going this weekend. Minnesota West is coached by T.D Hostikka who is entering his 5th season at the school.

The excitement can barely be contained as the spring season has finally arrived.  The snow is finally melting and the Lumberjacks are playing some baseball games!

After this weekend, the Lumberjacks hope to play their first home games the following weekend against the Williston State College Tetons. The season might be young, but weather permitting, the baseball games are about to start rolling in and we are ready for some Mon-Dak baseball!
