Baseball Kicks Off Season Today

The 2019 baseball season is officially set to go today for this year's version of the DCB Lumberjacks.  Rookie Head Coach Mark Lacroix will lead a very young Lumberjacks team into their opening games vs Dodge City Community College and Oklahoma Panhandle State University JV.

They take on Dodge at 12:00 noon Montana time followed by Oklahoma Panhandle at 4:00pm.

Just 4 sophomores are on the roster as the team has had to rebuild after a successful 2018 season that saw the team lose a number of 2nd year players.

The team played a scrimmage last weekend against Minot State University in the Minot Bubble.  Coach Lacroix had this to say about their first game experience.

"Today we found out a lot about where we are and where we need to go.  A lot of guys got their first taste of college baseball.  It will be exciting to see where we go from here".

Lacroix stated that several players stood out.  He believes freshman infielder Nate Huarte of California should be one of the top hitters in the MonDak this season.

The team will take on Panhandle State again on Wednesday Feb. 27th at the same times.  All games are being played in Goodwell, Oklahoma home to the Aggies of Panhandle State.
