Jacks extend winning streak to 11

The Lumberjacks baseball team continued to travel South to escape the weather and play some baseball. DCB traveled to York College for a doubleheader in York, Nebraska.

The Jacks started slow and lost a 3-1 lead to fall behind 4-3 in the bottom of the 5th. In the top of the 7th, the Jacks did what they do best. They put up a 5 run inning to get another come from behind victory. Carter Sorenson came in for Riley Kluin in the 5th to pick up the win and had 5 strikeouts to no walks. Victor Terrero had a 3 run homer earlier in the game and Nick Sumstine 2-2 with 2 walks, and a 3-4 day from Dylan Dougher set the table all day for the Jacks offense.

In game 2, the Jacks jumped out to a 3-0 lead and led 3-1 going in to the top of the 5th. York pitching may have been the best the Jacks have faced, and "they were keeping us in check" said Coach Greene.

But then in the 5th, 6th and 7th, the Jacks took advantage of some walks and put up 15 runs in the last 3 innings. Victor Terrero and Ryan Moormeier each hit 2 home runs, and each had a grand slam to bury the Panthers. Trevor Feeney was 3-4 and stayed 3rd in the nation in hitting at .535.  Ryan Moormeier is 9th at .500

DCB is now 17-3 on the season and concluded the non-conference schedule with an .850 winning percentage. League play is scheduled for April 14th vs 20th ranked Dawson, who is currently 12-1. The Jacks may move in to the top 20 in next Tuesdays poll, bringing a top 20 matchup to the Lumberyard.
