Ladyjacks Fall in National Semi Finals

The DCB Ladyjacks saw their season come to an end Sunday afternoon in the National Semi Finals falling 3-0 to Sault College. Prior to the loss the Ladyjacks rolled to three wins in pool play defeating Central Michigan 5-1, Niagara University 3-0 and Villanova 8-1.

5-1 win over Central Michigan

Kirra Montrose got DCB on the board in the first period finding the back of the net off a Kindal DeGraeve assist. The Ladyjacks were quickly able to stretch their lead to 3-0 early in the second period as McKenna Walls and Trinity Tanner would score within two minutes of each other. Tanner picked up the assist on Walls' goal and Kylie Lagerquist was credited with the assist on Tanner's goal. CMU ended the shutout making 3-1. Late in the second period Madison Thompson picked up a powerplay goal to give the Ladyjacks a 4-1 lead as the teams headed to the third period. Michelle Landsverk would pick up a third period goal to give DCB the 5-1 win. Hannah Funk got the win between the pipes.

3-0 win over Niagara University

After a scoreless first period the Ladyjack offense got rolling late in the second period. Abby Forest picked up a goal off a Jenna Moormann assist to make it 1-0. Seconds late Trinity Tanner scored her second goal of the tournament with assists coming from Jaida Chartrand and goalie Kara Zelyck. Jayden Carels put the game away with an empty netter late in the third giving DCB the 3-0. Kara Zelyck picked up the shutout win.

8-0 win over Villanova

The Ladyjack offense was firing on all cylinders Saturday. Jasper Devloo opened the scoring just five minutes into the contest with a powerplay goal. Just four minutes later Macy Wither stretched the lead to 2-0 which the score remained as the first period came to an end. Kindal DeGraeve stretched the lead to 3-0 early on in the second period. Kirra Montrose scored her second goal of the tournament late in the second period to make the game 4-0. The rout was on as the third period passed the halfway point. Madison Thompson opened the third period scoring with an assist coming from Madison Thompson. Just a minute and a half later Jaida Chartrand scored a powerplay goal off a Devloo assist to make the score 6-0. Thirty seconds later Trinity Tanner netted her third goal in three days with Devloo picking up her second assist of the contest. The final Ladyjack goal came just a minute later as Crawford scored her second goal of the period Michelle Landsverk and McKenna Walls were credited with the assists. The Wildcats were able to break up the shutout late making the final score 8-1. Hannah Funk picked up the win in goal.

3-0 Loss to Sault College National Semi Finals

Neither team was able to capitalize on shot in the first two periods. As the teams prepared for the third period, they remained deadlocked at 0-0. Two third period penalties allowed the Cougars to pick up a pair of third powerplay goals and tack on the third to take the game by a score of 3-0.

The Ladyjacks end their season 14-7-1-0.
