Golden Eagles Sweep Jacks

The Lumberjack Men's hockey team was swept this past weekend 6-1 and 8-2 by the University Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles.

6-1 Loss

The Golden Eagles got on the board first with a goal less than a minute into the game. Dodge Long evened the game just prior to the halfway point of the first period, Jace Thompson and Leighton Holstein were credited with the assists. Crookston would retake the lead 76 seconds later, a lead they would not relinquish. The Golden Eagles added one goal in the second and three in the third to win 6-1.

8-2 Loss

It would be the Jacks striking first in game two as Thompson found the back of the net just 23 seconds into the game. Long and Jacob Measel dished the assists. A pair of goals from the Golden Eagles would give them the lead 2-1 at the end of the first period. Crookston was able to stretch their lead to 3-1 early in the second period. Holstein was able to bring the Lumberjacks back within one goal less then a minute later and Thompson picked up his second assist of the weekend. That is as close as the Jacks would get as UMC would score 5 straight goals to win 8-2.

DCB now sits at 11-13-1-2 overall. Next Up for the Lumberjacks is a road game against the University of Mary. Game time is set for 2:00p.m. Wednesday.
