Jacks Sweep Tetons

The Lumberjack men's hockey team picked up a weekend sweep of the Williston State Tetons 8-3 and 3-1 Friday and Saturday night.

8-3 win

The Jacks would score a pair of goals late in the first period to take a 2-0 lead. The first goal would come from Matt Olson, Leighton Holstein and Zach Diehl dished the assists. Less than one minute later Fabian Vik found the back of the net and Diehl picked up his second assist of the game. Back-to-back goals in the second period from the Tetons would tie the game at 2-2. The game would only be tied for three minutes as Jace Thompson would put DCB back out front, Kole Fitzpatrick picked up the assist. Less then a minute later the Jacks were able to push their lead to 4-2 when Holstein would net his 10th goal of the season, Jacob Measel and Kolby Adair grabbed the assists. WSC was able to pull back within one at 4-3 with a powerplay goal. It would not take long for the Jack to get their lead back up to two goals as Thompson scored his second of the period with four minutes remaining in the period. Kalen Parent, and Aiden Morelli got on the scoresheet with an assist apiece. The Jacks entered the final period with a 5-3 lead.

The third period was all DCB as the Jacks would score three goals in the period to win 8-3. The first Jacks goal of the period would come from Diehl, Holstien picked up another assist on the scoring play. Olson scored his second of the game and Holstein picked up his third assist, Riley Opperude also was credited with an assist. The final goal of the game came from Dale Kjorstad unassisted. Rylan Labrie picked up the win in net with 26 saves.

3-1 Win

It would be the Tetons getting on the board first with a goal in the first period. DCB would tie the game just thirty-two seconds into the second period when Olson would score his third goal of the weekend, Measel and Reed Gilmore picked up the assists. The Jacks would take the lead just prior to the halfway point of the period when Diehl was able to find the back of the net, Olson snagged the assist. A goal early in the third period from Wyatt Curtis would put the game away for the Jacks Holstien found his way back on the scoresheet with the assist. DCB picked up the 3-1 win. Mason Matthew was the winning goaltender with 28 saves.

With the win DCB moves to 8-4 on the year. The Jacks host University of Mary Tuesday night puck drop set for 7:30p.m.
