Bobcats Sweep Jacks

The Lumberjack men's hockey team dropped a pair of games to unbeaten Montana State this weekend. Friday the Jacks fell 3-1 and Saturday 5-2. Entering the weekend, the two teams were the top two teams in the ACHA West Region rankings with DCB coming in at number one and Montana State two.

3-1 Loss

The Jacks struck first with a powerplay goal by Aiden Morelli five minutes into the game. After one period DCB held a 9-6 SOG advantage. The Bobcats would even the game at 1-1 in the second period while the Jacks still outshot the Bobcats after two periods 19-17. Montana State would score a pair of goals in the final period to win the game 3-1. The Bobcats ended up outshooting the Jacks 43-28.

5-2 Loss.

The Bobcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Montana State would stretch their lead to 4-0 in the second period. Matt Olson would get the Jacks on the board in the final minute of the period off a Leighton Holstein assist. Holstein would get a goal of his own just twenty-one seconds into the final period on a power play opportunity. Jacob Measel, and Rory McNabb picked up the assists. Montana State would score one more goal to win the game 5-2.

With the loss DCB falls to 6-4 overall. The Jacks have a weekend home and home series with Williston State next Friday and Saturday. Start time is 7:30 in Bottineau Friday.
