The Lumberjacks Men's Hockey team opened their season with a shutout win over Lake Region State College Royals 4-0.

Jace Thompson got the Jacks on the board less than two minutes into the game with the assist coming from Leighton Holstein. DCB had the opportunity to add to their lead with a powerplay opportunity but they couldn't capitalize on. The Royals held a 13-11 SOG advantage after the first period.

Dodge Long made it 2-0 Jacks two minutes into the period, Holstein picked up his second assist of the game. Later in the period Holstein got a goal of his own with the teams skating 4 on 4, Thompson and Wyatt Curtis were credited with the assists. After two periods the Lumberjacks held a 3-0 lead but trailed in shots 32-30.

DCB netted the final goal of the game five minutes into the third period when Reed Gilmore found the back of the net, Long picked up an assist to go along with his goal, and Holstein was credited with his third assist of the night. The Jacks would win 4-0. DCB outshot the Royals 52-40. Rylan Labrie picked up the win in net in his first collegiate game and had a shutout.

With the win the Lumberjacks move to 1-0. DCB has their home opener Saturday at 3:00p.m. also against Lake Region State College.
