Jacks Swept by Warriors

The DCB Lumberjack Hockey Team was swept this weekend by ACHA D1 Waldorf University. The Jacks fell by a score of 3-1 Friday and 5-1 Saturday.

4-1 Loss

Despite having opportunities neither team was able to get on the scoreboard. After one period the Warriors had outshot the Jacks 12-9. DCB struck first when Aiden Morelli found the back of the net for the Jacks. Zach Diehl and Tyson Pringle got credited with the assists. Heading into the final period. DCB held a 26-20 shots on goal advantage over Waldorf. Early in the final period of play Waldorf tied the game on a powerplay opportunity. Just thirty-five seconds later the Warriors claimed the lead with another goal. Waldorf would tack on another goal to win by the final score of 3-1. For the game DCB out shot Waldorf 36-32. The Jacks were unsuccessful on all three powerplay opportunities.

5-1 Loss

The Warriors had two goals within the first six and a half minutes of the first period one coming on a powerplay. In the second period, Waldorf tacked on two more early period goals. Riley Opperude got the Jacks on the board with a powerplay goal. Kolby Adair and Fabian Vik were credited with the assists. The Warriors tacked on a late goal to win by the final score of 5-1. In the contest the Jacks outshot Waldorf 43-30 but went one for six on powerplay opportunities whereas the Warrior went two for four on powerplays.

With the losses DCB falls to 7-16-0-2. Their last three games were against ACHA D1 opponents so the losses will not hurt their ACHA rankings. A new poll came out earlier this week and the Jacks found themselves ranked 8th in the ACHA West Region rankings. Next up for DCB they travel to the University of Mary on Wednesday game time is set for 7:00p.m.
