Jacks go 1-2 During Opening Weekend

The Lumberjacks kicked off their 2022-23 season this past weekend in Wisconsin. The Jacks went 1-2 on the weekend falling to the Marian University (WI) 3-1 on Friday. On Saturday DCB fell to Adrian College 4-3 in a shootout. In Sunday's contest the Lumberjacks dominated Davenport University 7-1 to earn their first win of the season.

Friday 3-1 Loss to Marian

In Friday's contest Marian grabbed an early first period lead and out shot the Jacks 8-5 in the period.  Nick Demchuk tied the game nine minutes into the second period. The game remained tied for the remainder of the period; however, the Sabres stretched their shots on goal margin on the Lumberjacks to 27-15. Marian scored a goal with eight minutes remaining to give them the lead. The Sabres added another goal late to give them the 3-1 win. The Sabres out shot DCB 42-30 in the game.

Saturday 4-3 SO Loss to Adrian

Saturday's contest saw a lot of scoring in the first period with the Bulldogs scoring two quick goals. The Lumberjacks answered with a JJ Adams goal. Adrian scored one more goal to give them a 3-1 lead heading to the second period. Just as the second period reached the halfway mark Leighton Holstein scored to cut the Bulldog lead to one at 3-2. After two periods Adrian held a narrow shots on goal advantage at 32-29. Just twenty-four seconds into the third period Ryan Patterson scored on the power-play to tie the game at 3-3 for the Jacks.  Neither team was able to find the net in the remainder of regulation or in the overtime period. The Bulldogs were able to score in the shootout to give them the win. Adrian out shot DCB 48-46 in the contest.

Sunday 7-1 Win over Davenport

The Jacks earned their first win of the season in Sunday's game dominating the Panthers of Davenport from start to finish. Leighton Holstein got things going right away with his second goal of the season just ten seconds into the game. Matt Olson kept the momentum rolling finding the back of the net just four minutes later. Just thirty-three seconds later Ryan Patterson scored his second goal of the season to give DCB a 4-0 lead. Matt also was not done adding his second goal of the game with two minutes left in the first period. Davenport was able to get a late goal to make the lead 4-1 after one period. Tyson Pringle got in on the scoring action just before the halfway point of the second period to give the Lumberjacks a 5-1 lead heading into the third period. Just two minutes into the third period Patterson scored his second goal of the game and third of season. Riley Opperude closed out he scoring to give the Jacks the 7-1 win. DCB out shot Davenport 50-20 in the game. Mason Matthew was the winning goalie.

The Lumberjacks are back in action October 21-22 taking on Utah State at home game times are 7:30p.m. and 1:00p.m.
