The Calvin University Knights ACHA D1 Hockey Team defeated the Western Michigan University Broncos 5-3 on Wednesday night.

In the first period the Knights came out strong looking to find the early lead. About seven minutes into the period the Knights found the back of the net with a goal from Nick Workman with the assists from Josh Hartlein and Justin Davis. About five minutes later the Knights added to their lead with a goal from Jared Virtanen with the assist from Jacob Siebenga. The Broncos got one goal back with about a minute to go in the period to bring the Knights lead down to one. 

The first period concluded with the Knights leading the Broncos 2-1. 

In the second period the Knights got on the board again with a shorthanded goal from Workman about six minutes into the period. A minute later the Broncos got the goal back and once again brought the Knights lead back down to one goal. 

The second period concluded with the Knights leading the Broncos 3-2. 

In the third period the Knights came out strong scoring a goal just two minutes into the period. The goal came from Riley Robertson with the assist from Hartlein. At about the eight minute mark of the period the Broncos found the back of the net once again and brought them back to within one goal. The Knights sealed the game with an empty net goal with about forty seconds to go. The goal came from Virtanen with the assists from Robertson and Graham Kormash. 

The game concluded with the Knights coming out victorious over the Broncos 5-3. 

Knights Goaltender Darin Fox finished the game with 20 saves on the night.
