Bottineau, ND, October 4, 2019 - Dakota College at Bottineau Lumberjack hockey team recently conducted their 19th Annual Day of Caring.  Each year the team choses a community day in the fall semester.  The goal is to provide public service, improving community life through volunteerism by giving back to the community.

Even though some of the projects were canceled due to the rainy weather, the team helped out local families, Bottineau school programs and other organizations throughout the day.  They helped at a local daycare and at the Bottineau after-school program by reading to children, assisting with projects and helping with homework.  They moved furniture for local families and finished their day with setting up the bi-annual Family Crisis Center Trash-to-Treasure rummage sale.  Representatives from the Family Crisis Center shared that the athletes worked tirelessly. They were pleasant and made the work enjoyable.  "We couldn't have done it without them".  said Charlotte Bedlion, Sale Coordinator.

The team also removed docks in the area this fall as an opportunity to raise funds for the team.  In the spring they will put docks in as part of the program.
