The Jacks hockey team looked like they were headed to overtime for the fifth time this season until Williston State's Austin Weber snuck a goal past netminder Jay Pringle with just 2:42 left in the game. The Tetons went on to score an empty net goal to upend DCB 4-2.
DCB (10-13-0-3) gave up a goal in the opening period but dominated the second scoring two before the the 40 minute mark. Wade Thompson nailed a Snap-shot low for the opening goal on a feed by Kyle Peters. Daniel Nomerstad picked up the other assist after ome tough checking inside the Teton end. DCB's second goal was scored on a great one-on-one play by Kyle Wahoski. Colin Van Kommer chipped the puck out of his own end to the waiting winger, Tyrell Pompu. Pompu hit a cutting Wahoski at center ice and Wahoski did the rest, undressing the defenseman and slipping the puck under the goaltender for a 2-1 lead. That's all the offense the Jacks could generate as they fell to the #5 ranked Tetons. Pringle stopped 41 of 44 shots in the DCB net.
The Jacks will host Concordia University-Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday at the Lumberdome. Friday's game kicks off at 7:30pm while Saturday's game is an afternoon affair, 1:00pm puck drop.
